About this role:

Tribe Gaming is seeking a dynamic and hands-on Financial Controller to play an integral role in creating, leading and refining the financial operations of the company. The right candidate is highly motivated by a fast-paced, high-growth environment and is not afraid to roll up their sleeves in day-to-day work. This role will lead and oversee the financial management and accounting functions for the organization, working closely with internal and external stakeholders in order to drive financial acumen, efficiencies and best practices.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Own the Finance and Accounting function for the organization, overseeing all aspects of accounting operations, reporting and analysis.
  • Ensure all transactions of the enterprise are recorded in compliance with U.S. GAAP, including:
    • Recognition of revenue in accordance with accounting standards under ASC 606
    • ASC 842 (Lease Accounting)
    • CECL (Current Expected Credit Losses Model)
    • Understanding of latest guidance related to crypto transactions and assets
  • Manage the day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
  • Manage the company’s monthly-end and quarterly-close process and related financial reporting requirements, including the preparation of balance sheets, income, cash flows, and equity statements in an accurate, timely, and effective manner
  • With the assistance of the leadership team to compile the Company’s Annual Operating Plan including: revenue projections by category, cost of revenue assumptions by revenue category, projected operating costs, uses of cash from investing activities, Sources of cash from financing activities, projected net income / loss, projected EBITDA, and projected net cash flows
  • Monitor financial reporting requirements and budget-to-actual activity to report on budget variances, including the rationale for changes in budget projections to prepare monthly financial reporting and quarterly compliance packages
  • Support the leadership team in any partnership or fundraising activities including the compilation of financial statement and forecast summaries as well as any other relevant financial information required
  • Act as an in-house subject matter expert when assisting drafting and implementing internal control policies and procedures necessary to adequately protect the assets of the company and ensure the accuracy of financial information
  • Manage outsourced firm completing bookkeeping and transactional accounting tasks
  • Manage the tax return process, ensuring timely completion of state and local tax filings as well as annual tax filings in partnership with external firm
  • Be prepared to oversee and supervise the annual financial statements audit if necessary in the future
  • Collaborate with business leaders to provide financial insights and support decision-making

What it takes to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
  • 6+ years of prior experience in Accounting and Finance, with a combination of both Public Accounting and Private Industry experience
  • High functioning, working knowledge of relevant accounting practices, including US GAAP
  • Strong knowledge of financial management principles and practices
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel, Monday.com)
  • Ability and track record of identifying process improvement opportunities with automation to create efficiency
  • Ability to effectively manage external relationships, including tax, audit, valuation, and insurance
  • Strong problem-solving skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter and fast learner with excellent time management skills
  • High standards for integrity, accuracy, and meeting deadlines
