Recap: Tribe Gaming at King’s Cup II

King’s Cup II has officially ended, and it was a blast! Over the weekend, Tribe Gaming had a few surprises for the fans. This included the huge announcement that Orange Juice has joined Tribe Gaming as the Head of Content, the launch of the Tribe Gaming jersey on raven.gg and JMonte joining the Tribe.

The Tribe at King’s Cup II

Day 1 was power-packed with many games in the qualifying Heats for King’s Cup. Tin2 almost made it to the final Top 8, but fell slightly short at the very end. He played level 1 Bats in the heats and still finished as one of the top players! Impressive!

On Day 2, Trigo placed third in a side tournament, just below pro players Hazard and ah craaaap, that won him $200. Also, Gio drove 9 hours just to be at the King’s Cup. He finished in the Top 20 which is a spectacular feat.

Misplaced Rockets in the Quarter-Finals

While Tribe Gaming did not make it past the quarter-finals, the team, led by Chief Pat himself, did fantastically well. The Misplaced Rockets went head-to-head with Meta Maulers, led by Molt and put up a good fight.

  •       Chief Pat sweeps up the Tribe’s first win against Molt. Molt’s splashyard deck was no match for Pat’s Golem/Cannon Cart beatdown.
  •      Pat whips out his secret card in Game 2–Sparky. He picks up his second win over Molt as the Meta Maulers send down their second contender–TMD Yao Yao.
  •      Pat loses his first game in the finals to Yao Yao’s Giant/Miner/Poison deck, despite a valuable rocket play at the start of the game.
  •      Again, Pat suffered a loss in the second game against Yao Yao’s Mortar deck, unable to keep up with Yao Yao’s faster elixir cycle with his heavier X-Bow/Sparky deck.
  •      Jake (aka Tag), comes up next against TMD Yao Yao. Tag breaks Yao Yao’s string of wins with aggressive Hog Rider plays and an unbeatable Exe-nado defence.
  •      However, in game 2 with Yao Yao, he loses out to Yao Yao’s well-timed Golem pushes.
  •      Tag strikes out in game 3 in a Giant vs Giant match. Yao Yao constantly had the elixir advantage against him and hard counters such as the Poison and Inferno Dragon.
  •      Oxalate is the final contender of the Misplaced Rockets. Oxalate sweeps game 1 with his aggressive Goblin Barrels
  •      However, in game 2, Oxalate could not control Yao Yao’s big Giant pushes with his Graveyard deck and eventually loses the game.
  •      In the final game, Oxalate brings out the under-used Flying Machine! But it was no match for Yao Yao’s huge Golem pushes.

Despite the losses, the Misplaced Rockets did Tribe Gaming proud! Orange Juice’s Vitamin C managed to place third in the finals, behind Ted’s Sparky Masters. Clash With Ash’s Viva La Sparky takes home the King’s Cup II trophy after riveting plays by Surgical Goblin against Atchiin in the final rounds that had everyone on the edge of their seats.

Tribe Acquires Immortals Vainglory Roster

Today, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve acquired Immortals’ spot in the Vainglory 8, and that we’ll be retaining their championship-caliber roster going forward. After the Unified Finals, in which Immortals toppled TSM and made a statement by placing second, we worked quickly to acquire their star-studded roster after the possibility arose of a transfer. We’re ecstatic to announce our official Tribe Vainglory roster – welcome to the Tribe!

Mark “HotSauceUT” Harlan,
Riley “DNZio” Haghian,
Ray “ttigers” Han,
Daniel “MaxGreen” Choi,
Alex “Xelciar” Matevosyan.

Mark “HotSauceUT” Harlan
: “I am incredibly excited to be joining Tribe Gaming. We are sad to see Immortals leaving the Vainglory scene, but we part ways on excellent terms and wish them the best. We join Tribe with a unified vision of winning worlds, and we look forward to working together to achieve that goal.

Chief Pat: “It’s not often a roster of this caliber becomes available in Vainglory, and after watching these guys tear it up at the Unified Finals, I’m pumped to have them join the Tribe. All four players are world-class – and with HotSauce’s leadership, we have lofty expectations as we look ahead into autumn and the World Championships.I’m looking forward to supporting them at Tribe going forward, and I’m excited to see what they can do with a full season of Vainglory 8.”

Make sure to tune in to the Vainglory 8 at 2pm PST later today, as we take on Team Solo Mid in the opening match of the Autumn season.

Welcome to the Tribe: Oxalate!

At Tribe, we’re thrilled to announce that earlier this week we acquired the NA CCGS Clash Royale champion – Oxalate. As he competes in the fall CCGS, Oxalate looks to be the anchor for our competitive roster going forward.

Chief Pat: “After chatting with Oxalate over the last few weeks, he really encompassed everything I was looking for in a Clash Royale pro. Not only has he reached the pinnacle of success with winning the NA CCGS, but also his attitude and positivity are perfect for leading our competitive Clash Royale team. I’m excited to welcome him to the Tribe family, and I can’t wait to see what we can get done together going forward into the future.

Oxalate: “Oxalate here – I’m more than ecstatic to be joining Tribe. My competitive Clash Royale career has been an unreal experience, and I can’t wait to see where Tribe takes me. With CCGS beginning to unfold and competition heating up, I feel that signing with Tribe will give me an edge over my other competitors – I can’t wait to show everyone what I’m capable of.”

Oxalate fought through technical difficulties in the first week of Fall NA CCGS, and finished with a solid 2-1 record. He’ll continue to square off weekly against the best Clash Royale players North America has to offer, with a $15,000 prize and a spot in the Clash Royale World Championship on the line. We’ll be rooting him on as he defends his NA CCGS title! Make sure to follow Oxalate on Twitter, YouTube, and Twitch, and to check him out as he competes in the NA CCGS every Thursday at 6pm PST.

Welcome, Tribe Academy!

In light of our recent results in the VIS Challenger League, we’ve decided to overhaul our Vainglory roster going into the Autumn season. While looking for new members for our team, we specifically targeted players with a burning desire to win, and who would welcome the commitment it takes to be one of the best teams in North America. Our new squad features three top-tier challenger players, with big aspirations for reaching the Vainglory 8 – please welcome the newest members of Tribe Academy!

Chief Pat: “While constructing our Autumn roster for VIS, we looked for players who had the right mix of what we thought it took to reach the Vainglory 8. We narrowed it down to a few things – commitment, talent, willingness to take feedback, and attitude. There’s no doubt in mind that these guys check all those boxes, and we can’t wait to see how they perform over the course of the Autumn season.”

LaidToRest: “We are really excited to join Tribe for the upcoming season. We have high expectations for our performance in the upcoming VIS season, and are hoping to secure a VG8 spot before the off-season.“

You can catch Tribe Academy competing in VIS League each of the next three Wednesdays, with matches starting at 5pm PST on twitch.tv/visleague.
